Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you visit timelapseforge.com (the “Site”) and when you use the TimeLapse Forge application (the “App”).
Who We Are
This Site and the App are operated by Practical Illusions LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Our website address is https://timelapseforge.com.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@practicalillusions.com.
For purchases, our reseller Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record and is the data controller for payment and billing information (see “Purchases and Licensing” below).
What We Collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. Depending on how you use the Site and App, this may include:
- Usage and device data collected by analytics (for example, pages viewed, approximate location from IP address, browser and device type).
- Order and license data when you buy a license (your name, email, and license/activation details), handled through Lemon Squeezy.
- Your email address if you choose to subscribe to a newsletter.
- Information you submit if you contact us for support.
We do not sell your personal information.
Analytics and Cookies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics (Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager) and to support embedded content. Cookies are small files stored on your device.
Essential cookies needed for the Site to function may be set automatically. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics) are loaded only after you give consent through our cookie banner, where consent is required by law. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie settings on the Site.
For a full description of the cookies we use and your choices, see our Cookie Policy. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on.
Purchases and Licensing
When you buy TimeLapse Forge, the transaction is processed by Lemon Squeezy as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects and processes your payment and billing information (such as name, email, and payment details) under its own privacy policy, available at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
We do receive order and license information — such as your name, email address, and license/activation status — so that we can deliver your license, validate activations, and provide support.
If you instead purchase TimeLapse Forge through the Apple Mac App Store, your purchase is processed by Appleunder Apple’s privacy policy, and your payment information is handled by Apple — not by us or by Lemon Squeezy. The App Store version of the App does not use our licensing system. We receive only the limited, largely aggregated sales information that Apple makes available to developers.
Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you product news and updates. We use a third-party email service (Mailchimp) to manage and send these emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, after which we stop sending you newsletters.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Commenting is currently disabled.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
No uploading is enabled currently, but if it ever is: if you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Content on this Site may include embedded content (for example, videos from YouTube or Vimeo, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
The TimeLapse Forge Application
The TimeLapse Forge application processes your images locally on your Mac. Your source files and rendered output never leave your computer — we do not upload, collect, or have access to your media.
In the version sold directly through Lemon Squeezy, activating a license causes the App to contact our licensing provider (Lemon Squeezy) to validate your license key and register the activation; this involves your license key and a device identifier. The App Store version does not do this. In all versions, the App does not collect analytics or usage telemetry.
If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, Apple’s privacy disclosures and the App’s App Store privacy details also apply to that copy.
Who We Share Your Data With
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the Site, the App, and our sales:
- Lemon Squeezy — payments, order delivery, and license validation
- Google (Analytics / Tag Manager) — Site analytics
- Mailchimp — newsletter delivery (if you subscribe)
- Our website host and embedded-content providers (such as YouTube/Vimeo)
If you request a password reset on the Site, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We may also disclose information where required by law.
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (including those above) are based in the United States and other countries. If you access the Site or App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
How Long We Retain Your Data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law.
- Order and license records are retained as long as needed for support, warranty, tax, and accounting purposes.
- Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
- If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
- For users that register on the website (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your Rights
Because we do not operate user accounts on the Site, the personal data we hold directly about you is limited — mainly support emails and, if you subscribed, your newsletter email. You can request access to, a copy of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you by emailing us at support@practicalillusions.com, and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Some of your data is held by our service providers rather than by us: to manage or delete newsletter data, use the unsubscribe link in any email; for purchase and license records, requests may need to be directed to Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for tax, accounting, legal, or security purposes.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@practicalillusions.com.
Children
The Site and App are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Spam Detection
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last revised.
